Location

Orissa has a rich cultural and historic tradition influenced by the blending of three great religious traditions - Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. It is home to many magnificent temples, unspoiled natural landscapes, and Odissi dance and music. In this oasis of natural and manmade resources, SSU has been allotted approximately 200 acres of land on lease near Naraj Barrage overlooking the Kathjodi River, a tributary of the Mahanadi River.

Today, Orissa has undergone a complete fiscal turnaround – the strongest among all India’s states. In 2006-07, Orissa’s fiscal deficit was reduced to less than 1%, a vast improvement from 10% in 1999-2000. Orissa has also initiated a wide-ranging policy reform program and increased its budgetary funding for infrastructure projects nearly three-fold. Over the past three years, the state’s GSDP has grown at a rate of 10%, exceeding India’s national average. Two million rural residents were lifted out of poverty between 2000 and 2005. Per capita incomes have increased from 250 USD to 350 USD. Sri Sri University will enhance the growth and development of Orissa by catering to the growing educational needs of the state.

 

Home to more than 7,500 students and 1,000 academic faculty from around the world, the Sri Sri University campus will be located less than 15 miles from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa.

Sri Sri University has been allotted approximately 200 acres on the Banks of the Mahanadi River, 15 miles from Bhubaneswar.

Sri Sri University will be a Green Campus, complete with an expansive nature reserve and responsibly maintained grounds for study and meditation.
